** OUR BOOKING PROCESS **

- Step 1. We send an availability check via email or text. This is NOT a booking. You'll respond with your availability.

- Step 2. If you have submitted your availability and you are chosen for that scene we will "line you up" via email. This means you'll get a new email with more information regarding the day and role. This is NOT a booking. You'll confirm your line-up. You are never officially booked until the night prior to filming when you receive a check-in number. While this is not a booking, once you confirm your line up we plan on you being there. So it's very important that if you become unavailable for any reason, you let us know ASAP. This will require a covid test prior to filming and the covid team will reach out separately to set up your test.

- Step 2 1/2. At this point if your role requires a fitting (we will let you know if it does or does not!) we will also provide you with the link to schedule a wardrobe fitting. You will be asked to covid test prior to this and covid team will reach out separately to set up your test. If you have a wardrobe fitting coming up, we will send you an email the day prior with the details on location and items to bring with you.

- Step 3. Preliminary filming email. We send preliminary emails the day prior to your work day (filming date) with location, wardrobe, hair and makeup info, and more! This will usually have a preliminary call time, but be aware this could change it's just preliminary and we only send this email as a courtesy so you have a better idea what to expect for your filming day. You'll confirm receipt of preliminary details.

- Step 4. OFFICIAL BOOKING EMAIL. This is the one folks! In this email you'll find your booking details and check in number. You'll confirm your booking and all will be well in the world!

For many shows a covid test will be require and the protocol will vary from show to show. Sometimes fittings for wardrobe are required, sometimes they are not. We do our very best to give you as much information up front as possible. Remember, we are only human so bear with us!

While we try to answer as many emails as possible, there simply is not enough time in the day. Unless your email is urgent or regarding a booking - we may not respond right away. We read all our emails and I assure you we get them all.

**WHAT CAN I EXPECT AS AN EXTRA?**

- You should ALWAYS expect a full 12+ hour day. Some days are significantly shorter than others..and some are longer. NOBODY from this office will EVER tell you that it will only take a few hours. We may give you an idea of timeframe, if we have it, but things always change.

- You may be asked to do a variety of different things in the scene such as walking, crossing camera, sitting down with a friend, engaging in pretend conversation, doing a specific task or activity. It's all up to production and they will give you instructions on the day based on the scene.

- Snacks, water, and coffee are always available throughout the day and you will get a hot meal half-way through the day if you're there for the entire day (full 12 hrs).

-You will fill out paperwork for payment on set. Usually you'll receive a check in the mail anywhere between 2-4 weeks from your shoot date.

**FAQ'S:**

I was an extra and I didn't get paid/my paycheck was wrong. Who do I contact about payroll?

We don't have anything to do with payroll for background. You must contact the payroll company specific to the show you worked on. You can find this information on your voucher be it digital or paper. If you are a SAG-AFTRA member - you can file a claim with your SAG-AFTRA rep.

How can I submit for projects?

You can see and submit for any of our ongoing projects here: citrolacasting.com/nowcasting

Can I audition for principal roles?

We will notify actors if we are doing principal casting. Please do not respond to a background casting call asking to audition for a principal role. It's often two separate companies.

I saw a casting call for a project and I filled out the form. Did it go through? Did you get it? Hello??? Is anyone on the other side of this thing?!?!

YES - we got your form. We get hundreds of emails and submissions a day. We try our best to respond to everyone, but sometimes this is simply not possible. We got your form - hang tight!

I filled out the form, but my pictures aren't uploading. What should I do?

Follow the trouble shooting information on the form. If you try again from a laptop/desktop and it still doesn't work, submit the form without photos and then email us your photos at the appropriate project email account.

I filled out a form when I submitted for one role, but now I wanna submit for another! Should I fill out the form again for the same project?

Rule of thumb is, if you submitted a form once for a particular project - you do NOT need to fill out another form for that project.

Well I'm available! How will you know I am available???

We reach out to individuals when we have appropriate roles for them. If you think for some reason we have forgotten about you (I promise you we haven't) you may email the project specific inbox with a short sweet message.

My cousin/daughter/dog/goldfish is interested in acting! Should they dig up your personal cell phone number and call you on your day off?

Please - we only get so much precious time off. Email or fill out the form for the appropriate project is the best and ONLY acceptable form of communication/submissions.

 I-9 Information

Please note that the US Federal Government has stricter guidelines regarding the I-9 Form.

All background performers are required to fill out an I-9 form as part of their voucher in order to receive payment. The I-9 is required by the US Federal Government to verify employment authorization as well as identity for every new employee.

The following I-9 procedures are now being strictly enforced by the US Federal Government as of 2017:

  • You, the employee (aka the background actor), can only fill out Section 1 of the I-9. Section 2 must be filled out by the employer (aka a production representative such as a production assistant/PA).

  • If you leave a field blank in any part you have filled out, you must write “N/A” (not applicable) in the blank field.

  • You (the employee) must fill in your date of birth, as it is a required field. It cannot be left blank.

  • As noted on the I-9 form, you must use the format mm/dd/yyyy (e.g. 01/01/2019) when filling out any date field.

  • You must bring original, valid, unexpired ID so the production representative can fill out Section 2 of the I-9. Photocopies are not acceptable.

  • Please note that while the I-9 can be filled out electronically, it must be printed out and physically signed by both the employee and employer. An electronic signature on an I-9 form is not accepted.

Again, everyone must bring valid, unexpired ID to fill out the I-9 on the voucher you will be given on set. You cannot work without presenting identification.

IF YOU HAVE A VISA, RESTRICTED SSN CARD, OR EMPLOYMENT AUTHORIZATION CARD OF ANY KIND, YOU MUST CONTACT CASTING IMMEDIATELY.

PLEASE BRING:

LIST A) an unexpired US Passport or US Passport Card, Permanent Resident Card, or an unrestricted Employment Authorization Document that contains a photograph

OR

LIST B) an unexpired US state-issued driver's license, US federal, state, or local government-issued photo ID, or, for minors, a medical record or report card

AND

C) an unrestricted U.S. Social Security Card or US-issued birth certificate

If you have any one of the options under A), that is all you need to bring. If you don't have an A) document, you must bring BOTH one B) and one C) document. Please note, a valid LIST B document can verify identity, but a valid LIST C document is needed to verify employment authorization. The LIST A documents noted above can verify both.

For more lists of acceptable documentation visit:

http://www.uscis.gov/i-9-central/acceptable-documents/list-documents

For more information regarding I-9 forms (including the form and instructions), visit: https://www.uscis.gov/i-9

Please note: most networks/studios require background talent to fill out an I-9 form on the first day of employment for each season of a television series. The beginning of a new season of television would qualify as a new job. Each individual production will require you (the employee) to fill out an I-9 form, which will be given to you on your first day of employment. This is required even if you are only booked for one day of background work.
